nostalgia is actively tracking down your once favorite tunes and sinking into your sofa. turning on your hearing aids, you listen and listen, let the melodies fill your ears, and your mind sails back to times when you didn't know a thing and life was simple.
nostalgia is stumbling upon recognizable names online, looking them up and you are looking at the evolved versions of the people you used to hang out with. slightly estranged, but unmistakably them.
nostalgia is missing those you didn't intimately know, because they were a fragment of what was once familiar: high school, extracurricular activities, favorite neighborhood cafes. they weren't an integral part of your life, but they were woven into the fabric of what you loved.
nostalgia is reading articles about those heroes you used to idolize in the past. you don't actively keep up with them anymore, but they were the pillars of your adolescence.
nostalgia is revisiting the old highschool yearbook and graduation messages that your friends left you. you weren't that tight-knit, but you have clasped hands and formed circles on the final eve of your high school journey, singing songs of youth and dreams and friendship.
nostalgia is desiring to replay your cherished moments one more time before going back to your present existence. memories, either filled with joy or sorrow, are the boldest strokes that painted the canvas of you.
thanks for being here, nostalgia. i have enjoyed meeting you.
Thanks so much for reading!
